The purpose of this website is to document and promote NXDN on Amateur Radio in the state of Connecticut.  NXDN stands for NeXt Generation Digital Narrowband, a radio technology utilizing a 6.25KHz or 12.5KHz channel and 4-Level FSK modulation.  Digital gives many exciting advantages over analog, such as:

  • Clearer audio (NXDN uses the AMBE+2 vocoder)
  • Increased range
  • Ability to link repeaters via the Internet

NXDN provides amateurs with the ability to experiment with an open CAI (Common Air Interface), linked repeaters over the internet, and recently, open source software for talkgroup steering and logging.
